Shooting Olympic champions touch down in Delhi for final showdown of year
Indian shooters will rub shoulders with the best in the world as ISSF World Cup final kicks off tomorrow in New Delhi.
New Delhi: Elite shooters from across the globe have descended in the capital city of New Delhi for the one last showdown of the year in the ISSF World Cup final starting today.
The ISSF World Cup Final (WCF) held at Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range will be the season-ending tournament for elite pistol, rifle, and shotgun shooters to determine the best exponents for the year’s events.
The men’s 10m Air Rifle champion in Paris Sheng Lihao, the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) champion Yukun Liu, the men’s 10m Air Pistol champion Xie Yu, and the men’s 25m Rapid-Fire Pistol (RFP) champion Li Yuehong, will all be seen in action in New Delhi.
Apart from the Chinese champs, Korea’s Yang Jiin, who won the women’s 25m Pistol in Paris will also be part of the six-member Korean contingent to Delhi. Also, in action at the Karni Singh shotgun ranges, will be the men’s and women’s Trap Olympic champions Nathan Hales (Great Britain) and Adriana Ruano Oliva (Guatemala).
The shooters have arrived in the city and the tournament has four finals each from October 15 to 17, covering all the 12 Olympic events.
Adding more colour to the year-end shooting showdown will be Turkiye’s Yusuf Dikec in the men’s pistol, the duo who became social media sensations after the Paris Games.
Apart from the international shooters, 23 Indian shooters will be in action across events with Rhythm Sangwan participating in both 10m air pistol and 25m sports pistol events.
Notably Indian Olympic medalists Swapnil Kusale, Manu Bhaker, and Sarabjot Singh will be skipping this event.
