Divanshi, Suraj win 25m standard pistol gold at ISSF World Junior C'ships

Indian shooters are currently leading the medal tally with 21 medals, including 13 gold, two silver and six bronze medals.

Indian junior shooting team continued their dominance in the ISSF World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, after Divanshi and Suraj Sharma won the women’s and men’s 25m standard pistol gold on Friday.

Divanshi topped the women's 25m standard pistol event with a score of 564 as India swept the event, with the top four spots belonging to the Indian shooters.

Parisha Gupta settled for the silver medal with a score of 559, as Manvi Jain bagged the bronze medal for scoring 557. Shikha Chaudhary, however, missed out on the medal for finishing with three points less than Manvi.

In the men's section, Suraj edged out Poland's Ivan Rakitski and compatriot Mukesh Nelavalli by three points to win the gold medal. Suraj topped the men's 25m standard pistol event with a score of 571.

Mukesh, on the other hand, settled for a joint silver medal with a score of 568, the same as Ivan. It was India's second silver in the tournament.

Other Indians in the fray, Harsimar Singh Rattha, Raajwardan Paatil and Pradhyumn Singh finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively in the final.

Earlier, Nelavalli, Raajwardan and Harsimar clinched the team competition in the junior men's 25m rapid-fire pistol (RFP).

It was Mukesh's fourth gold in the competition, including one individual gold.

India continue to lead the medal tally with 21 medals, including 13 gold, two silver and six bronze medals.

Norway are distant second on the table with four gold, three silver and as many bronze medals. China are third on the list with four medals, three gold and a silver.
