It's another glorious moment for Indian badminton, as the country's men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat China's Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen 21-19, 18-21, 21-18  to win the gold medal at the BWF Super 500 Thailand Open 2019 on Sunday. The Chinese second-seeded and world ranking 2 pair went on to pose a neck-to-neck battle in the first game, however, the Indians got the better off them. A similar fight continued in the second game and Chinese duo emerged victorious after a nerve-wracking battle on the court. The Indian duo showcased brilliance with their rackets, constantly dominating the long rallies in the third game and eventually winning the match in 62 minutes. It was the first final of the 2019 season for Rankireddy and Shetty, the men’s substitutes silver medallist at 2018 Commonwealth Games. On Sunday, the duo became the first Indian men's double team to win a BWF Super 500 tournament. On Saturday, the world number 16 Indian team prevailed 22-20 22-24 21-9 against the 19th- ranked Korean team of Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol after battling hard for 63 minutes.
