Mumbai Pickle Power continued its winning streak in the World Pickleball League, defeating Dilli Dillwale 4-1 to secure its second consecutive victory. Brandon Lane, once again pivotal in Mumbai’s success, was named the Pickle Player of the Tie for the second straight day.
The tie began with the men’s singles, where Brandon Lane showcased his skill and composure to secure a convincing win over Kenta Miyoshi, giving Mumbai an early lead.
The women’s doubles match, featuring India’s Isha Lakhani for the Dillwale, saw the Dilli duo edge out Mumbai in a closely fought contest.
Packed with thrilling volleys and rallies, the game ended in a narrow 9-8 victory for Dilli Dillwale. The decision to award the match to Dilli Dillwale was confirmed after a review by the technical director, making it the only win for them in the tie.
Mumbai pulled ahead in the men’s doubles, where Mayur Patil teamed up with Kim Eung Gwon to take on Leander Lazaro and Eduard Irizarry. Despite a spirited fight from Dilli, Mumbai maintained control to win 14-10, extending their lead to 2-1.
Mihae Kwon then sealed the tie for Mumbai in the women’s singles with a dominant 17-8 victory over Alexa Schull, giving Mumbai an unassailable 3-1 advantage.
The mixed doubles saw Brandon Lane return with Glauka Carvajal Lane to face Dilli’s Lazaro and Lauren Mercado. In a tightly contested game, Mumbai edged out Dilli 14-12 to cap off their 4-1 victory.
On Sunday, Dilli Dillwale will take on Samantha’s Chennai Super Champs, followed by Hyderabad Superstars and Pune United, as the teams seek their first victory of the season.
