In a landmark moment for Indian sports, the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) has launched the country’s first dedicated research and testing laboratory for pickleball equipment in partnership with Brainwave SportsTech.

This advanced facility is designed to regulate and standardize pickleball equipment, ensuring superior quality and consistency while elevating the playing experience for athletes across India.

With this initiative, manufacturers and brands can now secure AIPA's approval for equipment that meets international standards, fostering innovation and enhancing player performance on both domestic and global stages.

“This marks a proud and pioneering moment for AIPA and pickleball in India,” said AIPA President, Arvind Ramesh Prabhoo.

“Having our own research and testing facility has always been part of our vision. By ensuring our equipment adheres to global standards, we aim to provide Indian players with the best tools to enhance their efficiency and performance.”

A Global milestone

Brainwave SportsTech Director, Dr. Sunil Peshane emphasized the global significance of this project.

“This lab, the only one in the world exclusively dedicated to pickleball equipment testing, represents a monumental leap for the sport. Equipped to test under diverse climatic conditions, the facility ensures durability, safety, and high performance. It empowers manufacturers and players to achieve excellence while strengthening India’s position as a global leader in pickleball.”

Since its establishment in 2008, AIPA has spearheaded the promotion of pickleball in India, striving for government recognition and integration into school, university, and national games.

By nurturing grassroots talent and fostering widespread participation, AIPA has built a solid foundation for the sport. The launch of this laboratory further underscores its commitment to empowering the Indian pickleball community and bolstering the nation’s presence in international pickleball.

Historically, Indian players relied on equipment certified by US-based organizations due to limited certification options.

This new facility not only reduces dependency on international bodies but also establishes India as a trailblazer in the global pickleball ecosystem.
