Nihal Singh and Rudransh Khandelwal bowed out of the Paralympics 2024 after finishing 19th and 22nd in the qualification round on Wednesday.
Indian para-shooters Nihal Singh and Rudransh Khandelwal bowed out of the Paralympics 2024 on Wednesday.
The Indian duo failed to qualify for the final in the mixed 50m pistol qualification round on Wednesday after finishing 19th and 22nd respectively.
Nihal Singh had a cumulative score of 522, while Rudransh could only reach 517 points.
Rudransh made a decent start and gained the much-needed momentum as he looked poised for a top-eight finish and a place in the final, but two six-point shots during the fourth series broke his momentum. He went down the hill further in the sixth round, as he could collect only 81 points, spoiling his chances.
Nihal, on the other hand, had a tough start to the event. He continuously hit six and sevens, and a poor one-point shot in his 50th take ended his chances of qualifying for the final.
Jeongdu Jo of South Korea shot 553 out of a possible 600 and clinched the top spot in the qualification round, achieving a Paralympic record.
The final of the mixed 50m pistol SH1 event is scheduled to be played later today.
Mona Agarwal, Siddharta Babu will be the last Indians to shoot for glory in the Paris Paralympics 2024, as they will take on the range on Thursday in the mixed 50m rifle prone SH1.
