Paralympics 2024 Para-Shooting: Nihal, Amir miss spots in final by a whisker
Nihal Singh and Amir Ahmad Bhat bowed out of the Mixed 25m Pistol Qualifications after finishing 10th and 11th respectively.
Nihal Singh and Amir Ahmad Bhat bowed out of the Mixed 25m Pistol Qualifications (Precision and Rapid) after finishing 10th and 11th respectively in the qualification rounds at the Chateroux Shooting Centre in Paris on Monday.
A total of 25 para-shooters, including six female para-shooters, entered the range to fight for the top eight positions to get to the final.
Amir Ahmad finished with a score of 568, ending his run at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
Nihal finished with a score of 569, the same as the 8th and 9th-ranked shooters. However, due to less number of inner 10s, Nihal got the 11th position and ended his Paralympics campaign.
An eight by both shooters during the final five shots of the rapid round meant they could not qualify for the final.
South Korea's Kim Jungnam topped the qualification round with 579 points, as the qualification stage world record holder of China Yang Chao grabbed the last available position with more inner 10s, compared to Nihal and qualified for the final.
The final of the Mixed 25m Pistol will be played later today.
Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal will be in action on Tuesday in the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 Qualification. The final is also scheduled to take place on the very day.
