India's medal rush continued as Dharambir and Pranav Soorma won gold and silver respectively in the men's club throw F51 category at the Paris Paralympics on Wednesday.

Dharambir shattered the Asia record with his best throw of 34.92m and clinched the gold medal while Asian Para Games champion Pranav Soorma won the silver medal with a best throw of 34.59m.

F51 Club Throw is an event for wheelchair-bound athletes who attempt all six throws in one go.

Going up as the first thrower, Dharambir started poorly with four foul throws but he shattered the Asian record in his fifth attempt throwing 34.92m. Dharambir stayed at the top position after his six throws were over.

On the other hand, Pranav was very consistent during his six attempts and started with 34.59m in his first throw which eventually resulted in getting him the silver medal.

His other four throws were 34.19, 34.50, 33.90, and 33.70 with one foul throw.

The third Indian in the event, Amit finished 10th in the event with a best throw of 23.96m in his six attempts.

India won a total of four medals today with Para Archer Harvinder Singh winning gold in men's recurve and Sachin Khilari winning a silver in men's shot put earlier in the day.

Currently, India's medal haul stands at 24 medals and is placed 13th in the overall standings with five gold, nine silver, and ten bronze medals.
