India’s mixed doubles pairing of Anita and Narayana Konganapalle finished third in the heat-2 of repechage in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls category, clocking 7:54.33s at the Paris Paralympics, on Saturday.

The top two from each heat have advanced to the final, meaning the Indians are now out of the medal race from this event.

They managed to finish ahead of Mexico, who finished last clocking 8:10.54s. Great Britain (7:20.53) and Ukraine (7:29.24) finished first and second respectively to book their spot in the final.

The final will take place on Sunday with the top six teams fighting for the three medals. Australia, Germany, and Great Britain will be among the favorites to claim those three spots in the final.

On the other hand, India will be in action at the Final B which will be just for the placement ranking of 7th to 11th place.

India will be among the favorites to win the final B alongside the US team. Anita and Narayana will be eager to finish their tournament on high by finishing in 7th position.

Earlier, the Indian team finished fifth in the heats on Friday with the timing of 8:06.84 to confirm their place in the repechage.

This is the first time India has a representation in Para-rowing at the Paralympic Games.
