The second edition of the 2024 World Deaf Shooting Championship, held at Hanover, ended on Sunday night, with India topping the medal tally with 20 medals.

Two teenage Indians, Anuya Prasad and Abhinav Deshwal, were awarded for their performances at the event.

Anuya Prasad, aged just 16, won gold in the 10-metre air pistol event, as Abhinav Deshwal, 17, won five medals in total, silver in the 10-metre air pistol, silver in the 10-metre air pistol team, gold in 25-metre pistol and 25-meter standard pistol, silver in the 10-metre in air pistol mixed competition.

The two Indian shooters were the youngest to feature in the competition and the organising committee felicitated them on the back of their impressive performances.

Henrion from the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community, and Timo Kruckenmeyer from the Deaf Sports Association of Lower Saxony presented the two with a Nana figure, a well-known sculpture from Hanover.

India topped the over-medal tally at the Deaf Shooting Championships with 20 medals, including seven golds. Ukraine finished second with a total of 19 medals.

Hosts Germany finished third, far behind India and Ukraine, by winning just four medals.

The medal table of the World Championships signified the dominance of India and Ukraine, who were better than the rest by a long shot at the event.
