Asia Pacific Deaf Games: Indian team clinches gold in 4x400m mixed relay

The Indian deaf team of Vinith Mani, Ridhvan, Ridham, and Priyanga clinched the gold medal in the 4x400m mixed relay race at the 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday.

The team finished ahead of the strong Kazakhstan side to confirm India's first gold medal at this current edition of the Games. Meanwhile, China bagged the bronze medal in this event.

Three medals for India in field events

Indian athletics contingent added three more medals to their tally as Ramesh Kumar (Javelin Throw) and Jaspal Singh (Shot Put) won the silver medals while Suthan Rajendran (Triple Jump) clinched a bronze.

Ramesh Kumar clinched the silver medal with the best throw of 55.85m, behind the gold medalist Xin Shun (59.66m) of China whereas Jaspal Singh (12.75m) missed out on a gold medal to Iran's Yazdan Islami (13.49m).

On the other hand, former deaf national's triple jump champion, Rajendran with the best jump of 13.42m, clinched the bronze medal behind China's Ren Min (13.85m) and Malaysia's Megat Abu Zaiman (14.77m).

Silver for the Indian women's TT team

Indian women's table tennis team won the silver medal after losing their final match to China on Wednesday.

Earlier, they booked their spot in the final with two consecutive 3-0 victories against South Korea and Iran in the semis and quarterfinals respectively.

India entered day 3 having three medals (1 silver and 2 days) from the first two days, winning all of them in chess where Ambika and Yashaswi won individual medals and the Indian rapid mixed team won the bronze medal.

After an amazing day in athletics and table tennis, India has now taken their medal tally to 7 medals, having one gold, three silvers, and 3 bronze medals.
