In a tragic paragliding accident in Assam's Tinsukia district, a man fell to his death after the harness of his paraglider came undone mid-air, resulting in a fatal death.

The terrible tragedy took place at Skyland resort on 26th January, Wednesday. Although the man was rushed to the hospital, unfortunately, the injuries were too severe and he succumbed to his death only a few hours later.

Provoking safety concerns when it comes to adventure sports like paragliding, the police have also been involved in this matter. "We have received a report of an accident at Skyland Resort in which a person has died during paragliding. The incident is being looked into seriously and all angles shall be investigated," Tinsukia police superintendent Debojit Deori told EastMojo.

A close friend of the deceased man, Chow Sureng Rajkonwar narrated the incident in a Facebook post. "Unfortunately, my brother died as a result of prompt medical attention. He was in a pool of blood, his three friends were by his side looking for help. He cannot be picked and taken to his car because he was profusely bleeding as a result of his mashed limbs and swollen stomach," he mentioned on the social platform.

This accident has paved the way for serious inquiries being conducted after several allegations were levelled against a resort for functioning illegally in the Dibru Saikhowa National Park, and surprisingly enough, several people visited the Skyland resort only a few days back for it.

However, the resort owners informed the officials about all the activities that take place there but did not happen to mention paragliding.

However, this is not the first time that someone has lost his life in a paragliding accident in India. On 16th January, a 12-Year-Old boy named Rishabh Tripathi from Bengaluru also lost his life at Bir Billing paragliding site in Himachal Pradesh.

In 2021 as well, in Shimla, a man from Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district died, when he fell from a paraglider during a flight in the Bir Billing area, as well, sparking quite the unrest.

All activities of the Skyland resort have been paused now and the Deputy Commissioner of the Tinsukia has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
