In a recent development on Tuesday, the Pensacola State women's basketball team based out of Florida, USA announced the signing of Indian basketball player Vaishnavi Yadav. She will join the 'Lady Pirates' squad. Yadav has had a prolific career so far. She has represented India at the FIBA Asia U-18 3x3 Championship, FIBA Asia U-16 Championship and the FIBA U-16 Asia Cup. her standout performance came last year when she grabbed the headlines by scoring 71 points during the 69th Junior National Championship. It is the most by a women's player at the national level. She was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the tournament and propelled her state, Uttar Pradesh to a third-place finish. She also bagged the MVP award at the U18 State Nationals. The youngster credits the NBA Academy for providing her with a platform to showcase her skills, improve them and believe in herself. She mentioned that she was fortunate enough to learn from legendary and highly experienced coaches.
On the signing, as per the NBA report,  Vaishnavi Yadav said, "I am very excited to have the tremendous opportunity to attend Pensacola State University. I would like to thank India Basketball, NBA Academy Women's Program, and Coach Blair Hardiek for making this possible. I hope to take India to the next level by learning all I can about the game and then sharing the knowledge with other basketball players from my country. I hope I can inspire others from India to work hard and go for their dreams." In the official release, Pensacola Head coach Penny Belford says, "We are very excited to have Vaishnavi join the Lady Pirate family. She will bring a wealth of playing experience and excitement for the upcoming season."
