2036 Olympics should definitely happen in India: President Murmu
President Murmu joined PM Modi in asserting India's ability to host the Olympics in 2036.

Draupadi Murmu is the President of India.
President Droupadi Murmu, on Wednesday, said India should host the 2036 Olympics as the Games inspire people and promote sports.
"The Olympics should definitely happen in India. It would inspire people and promote merit in sports," Murmu was quoted as saying by PTI.
Murmu became the second Indian statesperson to express support for India's bid to host the Olympic Games.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address to the nation on August 15, asserted India's ability to stage large-scale global events and said the country is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to host the Olympics in 2036.
"It is the dream of India to host the 2036 Olympics, we are making preparations for that," PM Modi stated.
Besides India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Mexico, Poland and Turkey have expressed their interest in hosting the sporting spectacle.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is expected to decide on the host before 2026 after holding its elections.
This was the second time President Murmu voiced her support for the bid. In June, she expressed her support for India's bidding for the 2036 Olympics during a joint sitting of the two houses of the Parliament.
In July, President Murmu revealed her love for badminton when she shared photographs of her playing badminton with the trailblazing Saina Nehwal at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
India have been making vigorous preparations to bid for the 2036 Olympics keeping Ahmedabad as the host for the Games.
With Mansukh Mandaviya, a Member of Parliament from Gujarat, being appointed the sports minister after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha, the Indian government's bid to upgrade the sports infrastructure in the city has received a further boost.
Incumbent IOC president Thomas Bach supported India's bid at the IOC Congress in Mumbai in October last year.
The last time, India hosted an international multi-sport event was the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
