Following head coach Massimo Costantini's untimely departure, the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) secretary general MP Singh has promised to fill in the spot on the sidelines of the World Championships in Busan next year.

Taking cue from other teams, Singh said, the TTFI has decided to appoint a coach for the Olympic cycle instead of renewing contract every year.

Most teams employ coaches for a four-year Olympic cycle. So when he suddenly left, we had only limited options to choose from and even that did not work out for us," Singh told PTI

Going forward, we have decided to hire a coach for four years instead of renewing his contract every year. We have also got the sports ministry’s approval for that,” he added.

Singh also lashed out at Costantini for keeping the TTFI in dark. According to him, the former coach, should have informed about the departure after the 2018 Asian Games.

With the Tokyo Olympics around the corner, not having a coach, comes as a big blow to the Indian paddlers.
