Indian mixed double's pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa beat Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja of Indonesia 21-18, 21-10 in the Swiss Open BWF Super-300 tournament in Basel on Tuesday.

This comes as the second consecutive victory for the Indian pair against the second-seeded Indonesians. Following their win in Thailand Open, the Indian pair had entered into the top-20 of world rankings.

Both Satwik and Ashwini looked promising while defeating the world no. 8 pair. The first game saw a neck-to-neck battle till 16-16, following which the Indians scored big points to move to 20-17.

The Indians dominated from the onset of the second game and secured a 5-1 lead, which eventually reached the break at 11-6. The domination continued and they took the game for 21-10.

The other Indian doubles pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki Reddy conceded a straight-game loss against third seeds Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith of England 18-21, 15-21.

In the second round, Satwik and Ashwini will meet Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari of Indonesia, who defeated Ties Van Der Lecq and Debore Jille of the Netherlands 21-13, 21-15.

Meanwhile, India will play all of their opening matches in men's singles and doubles; women's singles category today.
