India's top-ranked tennis player Prajnesh Gunasekaran has got a wild card for ATP Dubai Open 2020.

Prajnesh, who lost in the Round of 16 in the Bengaluru Challenger earlier this month has been selected to be the wild card entry in the Dubai Tennis Championship. He will be playing against a qualifier in his first match.

2020 has not been a dream start for Gunasekaran. In 2019 he broke into top-100 after which his form went downhill.

In the Bengaluru Open he lost to Benjamin Bonzi who is a lower-ranked player than the Indian tennis star. Gunasekaran struggled throughout the match and made a lot of unforced errors. His previous win too came because of the mistakes of his opponent more than him fetching points.

The 30-year-old Indian tennis star rose to prominence last year when he appeared Grand Slams and back to back in Masters tournament which improved his ranking. Currently ranked at No.125, he had a career high ranking of 75 in 2019.
