Twenty three year old Indian para athlete Sandeep, has made his way into the Forbes' list of 30 under 30 in Entertainment and Sports category for the year 2020. He is the only Indian in the list.
Sandeep is a Paralympian and holds the World Record in Men's Javelin F64 (42-44, 61-64). He has also clinched gold medal at the the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia. Sandeep was the first Indian to clinch a medal in those games.
Sandeep is now training for the Paralympics to be held in Tokyo next year.
Sandeep's disability falls in the F42-44/61-64 category, which relates to limb deficiency, leg length difference, impaired muscle power or impaired range of movement. The athletes in this category compete with or without prosthesis. Sandeep doesn't use a prosthetic.
Sandeep is a son of an army officer and like his father wanted to join the Indian armed forces until a childhood accident made that impossible. But the accident didn't deter Sandeep, who always had an inkling for sports.
Afghani rapper Sonita Alizadeh tops the list.
