Three Indians were in action today in the ISSF Shooting World Cup Finals held in Putian, China. While the duo of Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat took part in the 25 metres Pistol Women, Anish Bhanwala was the sole representative from India in the 25 metres Fire Pistol Men's category on Day 2 of the competition.

The women's event was up first, with Bhaker and Rahi expected to proceed further. Rahi had secured India's first Tokyo 2020 quota in the Women's 25 metres Pistol event after she won her only gold of the year in the Munich World Cup this year, while Bhaker came into the event with three gold medals this year -- one in New Delhi, the other two in Munich and Beijing, albeit in the mixed team event.

However, Rahi had a dismal start in Putian, shooting 97, 92 and 94 to total 283 and finish 18th. Bhaker, on the other hand, did get off to a good start as she completed the precision stage with a score of 292 (97, 99 and 96). She finished 10th in the leaderboard after the rapid stage, and could not qualify for the finals.

Up next, Bhanwala too failed to cross the initial hurdle as he finished 10th after the first two stages, with a total of 578 points. He garnered 292 in Stage 1 and another 286 points in Stage 2.

Earlier, on Day 1 of the tournament, three Indians were in the fray, with Akhil Sheoran and Sanjeev Rajput taking part in the 50 metres 3 Positions Men's event, and Anjum Moudgil in the 50 metres 3 Positions Women's competition.

The three were unable to make the final round as well, with Moudgil crashing out after shooting a score of 1147 to finish 13th. Sheoran finished 13th with the same score as well. Rajput missed the final by just a point, finishing 9th with a score of 1153.

No Indian has yet advanced to the final round in the ISSF World Championships.
