Dream11, through the philanthropic arm Dream Sports Foundation (DSF), has pledged its support to “feed the daily wager” by partnering with Zomato, the fantasy sports platform announced on social media on Monday.

Zomato, the food delivery app, had launched ‘Feed the daily wager’ initiative on March 24 in a bid to try and provide food support to communities worst hit by the lockdown. On Saturday, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal said that they have already managed to raise ₹12 crore as part of the campaign.

Based on the initial response, Zomato has now doubled its collection target to ₹50 crore, which will be used to distribute food packages to “the daily wager communities that are currently unable to support their family’s food requirement.”

These are difficult times. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced an unprecedented lockdown around the world and as such, daily wagers have been left unable to fend for themselves. In fact, several reports have claimed that daily wagers have been worst hit by the lockdown.

In such times, a number of sports personalities have already come forward and made their contributions to help the country battle against Covid-19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi created the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund.

From cricketers Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar to shuttler PV Sindhu, everyone has come forward to help the cause. And now, Dream11 has joined the cause.
