Verma, who has managed to qualify for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics has continued his form from 2019, where he won two World Cup gold medals, at the Beijing and the Rio de Janeiro World Cup. The gold at Beijing helped him to seal a quota spot in the men's Air Pistol event for the 2020 Summer Games.

Verma, who had won a bronze in the 2018 Asian Games at Jakarta, also won a gold in the mixed team event at the Asian Championship in 2019 along with Manu Bhaker. The 30-year old had emerged as a prime medal contender heading into Tokyo, and the result in the nationals would have given him the much-needed confidence as he gears up for the big event.

The Indian will now be hoping for a good performance in the upcoming ISSF World Cup in New Delhi that will be held from 15 March to 26 March 2020.

Other results from the nationals
