India will be sending a 49-member contingent to the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025, set to take place in Turin, Italy, from March 8 to March 15.

The team consists of 30 athletes and 19 support staff, competing across six sports—Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Floorball, Short-track Speed Skating, Snowboarding, and Snowshoeing.

The Special Olympics World Winter Games is one of the biggest sporting events for athletes with intellectual disabilities, promoting inclusivity and excellence through sports.

The 12th edition of the event will feature eight disciplines and is expected to welcome over 1,500 athletes, 621 coaches, and around 100,000 spectators from 102 countries.

Beyond the sporting competition, the Games will also host special programs such as the Special Olympics Global Youth Leadership Summit, Healthy Athletes Screenings, and the Motor Activity Training Program, aiming to provide additional support and opportunities for athletes, families, and spectators.

Dr. Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics Bharat, expressed her support for the athletes, saying, “I would like to extend my best wishes to the athletes representing India. Their dedication and perseverance are truly inspiring, and we are confident they will make the country proud in Turin.”

With a history of success and a determined contingent, India will be looking to add to its medal tally and showcase the talent and resilience of its athletes on the global stage.
