The Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences (SSSS), a constituent of Symbiosis International University (SIU) is organising the third edition of the National Sports Science Conference (NSSC) over the course of three days, August 29 to 31 at the University Auditorium in Pune. The conference, which realises the motto of ‘converting dreams into reality’, aims to address India’s overall growth in the sporting landscape for the past few decades and to upgrade the sporting ecosystem in the form of economic as well as social development.

This year’s conference will behold the presence of eminent speakers and household names of Indian sports fraternity. With this year’s theme being ‘Evolving Sports Ecosystem in India’, there will be Speaker Sessions, Panel Discussions, and besides, it will feature one of its kind competitions, namely, Rananeeti, a sports media competition, and Bizdom, a sports start-up competition.

Rananeeti: The Media Plan Competition

Rananeeti is a media planning competition that promises to put its participants in the shoes of a modern media manager. It is expected to fulfill the primary objective of identifying the best media channels in order to reach out to the target audience and leave a profound impact. The media planner will be required to answer several questions in the process of planning the competition. It will involve questions about targetting audiences through various mediums, the efficiency and frequency of placing ads on a particular medium, and the amount of money required to be spent on each medium.

The team should comprise a minimum of two and a maximum of three members. No individual can be a part of more than one team. Each team will be provided a scenario involving challenges faced by various franchises/clubs from the existing sporting leagues of India, including prestigious leagues as ISL, PKL, and the I-League. The participating teams will have to capture an idea and submit a media plan, keeping in mind, the basic scenario. Besides an online phase (Phase I), there will be a campus round competition where the selected teams will be required to present a detailed media plan based on the Phase I document before the judges. The participants can have access to the results of the online round on August 20 via e-mail. The top ten teams will be selected for the campus round, while further instructions relating to the campus round will be communicated to the finalists via e-mail.

ENTRY FEE: 900/- per team (including 1-day accommodation + 3 meals)

600/- per team (excluding accommodation)

PRIZE MONEY: Winner- 15,000/-

Runner-up- 10,000/-

Bizdom: The Sports Start-up Competition

Ever wondered what it takes to turn dreams into reality? The NSSC will feature a unique competition that will help mix business with sports. It promises to publicise the platform to showcase new and innovative ideas and take it forward to the next level. Like Rananeeti, Bizdom competition will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, the participants should submit a two-page executive summary of their business plan, including the introduction, company information, product and services, market analysis, competition analysis, financials, and lastly, the conclusion. In the second phase, judges will select the top ten teams who will have to present the elaborated business plan in the form of a presentation before the judges on August 29. The results will be declared on August 20, followed by the final round to be conducted on August 30.

ENTRY FEE: 1500/- per team (including 1-day accommodation + 3 meals)

1200/- per team (excluding accommodation)

PRIZE MONEY: Winner- 40,000/-

Runner-up- 25,000/-
