National Games 2025 Day-1: Ramita into final, Dhinidhi breaks the national record - Highlights

On the opening day of the National Games 2025, Uttarakhand edged past Karnataka 3-2 in a thrilling men's badminton team match, while their women's team secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Gujarat. Rajasthan's men's team also started strong, defeating Arunachal Pradesh.
In swimming, Karnataka's Srihari Nataraj clinched two gold medals, including the men's 200m freestyle, while Dhinidhi Desinghu dominated with three golds and a national record in the women's 200m freestyle.
Rugby Sevens saw Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar register commanding victories in the women's category, while Haryana and Odisha continued their unbeaten runs in the men's competition.
In Wushu, Manipur dominated with gold medals from Konjengbam Luxmi Devi, Bonish Yurembam, and Tongbram Saya Chanu, while Services' Mayanglambam Singh triumphed in the men’s Changquan event.
Services' Ningthoujam Wilson Singh clinched the gold in men's high board diving, and Vijayveer Sidhu topped the men's 25m rapid fire pistol shooting qualification.

National record holder Srihari Natraj of Karnataka topped the preliminary round of men's 200m freestyle with a timing of 1:54.80, followed by Kushagra Rawat of Delhi and Aneesh Gowda of Karnataka.

Kho Kho: Odisha men's takes a 44-28 win over West Bengal
Odisha men's Kho Kho team took their second consecutive win in Pool B of the men's competition to jump up to the top position with 6 points.
They clinched a dominating 44-28 win against West Bengal, ending their winning momentum of the previous match.

Swimming: Dhinidhi Desinghu tops the preliminary round of 200m freestyle
National record holder Dhinidhi Desinghu of Karnataka topped the preliminary round of 200m freestyle with a timing of 2:09.68, followed by Shreenithi Natesan of Tamil Nadu and Bhavya Sachdeva of Delhi.

Kho Kho: Maharashtra men's team gets better of Kerala
The Kho Kho competition started for Maharashtra with the exciting opening game against Kerala in pool A of the men's competition.
Maharashtra takes the win (47-36) with a very good margin of 11 points against Kerala.
This was Kerala's second match in the tournament after a draw against Karnataka.
