Meghalaya to host 39th National Games in 2027

Meghalaya will host the the 39th edition of the National Games in 2027, the Indian Olympic Association confirmed in a letter to the state's Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.

"This decision is a recognition of Meghalaya's commitment to promoting sports and its capability to host a prestigious multi-sport event of this scale," the letter stated.

"The National Games serve as a platform to showcase the sporting talent of our country while also fostering infrastructure development and sports culture in the host state. We are confident that Meghalaya will rise to the occasion and deliver a successful and memorable edition of the Games.

"The IOA will extend all necessary support and guidance to ensure the smooth conduct of the event," it added.

Conrad Sangma has also been invited to the closing ceremony of the ongoing National Games in Uttarakhand, and the IOA flag will be handed over to Meghalaya.

The event is scheduled to be held between the February-March window in 2027.

The ongoing National Games in Uttarakhand has been going on for over two weeks and will come to a close on February 14th.
