The 38th National Games is set to be held in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 25 and on Sunday, the Union Minister Raksha Khadse unveiled the logo and the mascot.

Drawing inspiration from Monal, Uttarakhand's state bird, the mascot has been christened 'Mouli'.

Also, the games shall carry the tagline "Sankalp Se Shikhar Tak" (From resolution to zenith).

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Khadse, the Union Minster of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, said that the games symbolise sportsmanship.

"These Games symbolise the spirit of sportsmanship, unity, and excellence. The vibrant logo and dynamic mascot reflect the rich culture and natural beauty of the state," he said.

Significantly, yoga and mallakhamba, two indigenous sports, were added to the National Games.

This came after a proposal from the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was approved by PT Usha, the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Additionally, the chief minister announced in investment of INR 500 Crore towards upgrading the sports infrastructure of the state, with the money being intended to upgrade swimming pools, stadiums, shooting ranges and cycling tracks.
