NADA starts outreach programme at Khelo India Youth Games to promote 'clean sports'

The National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) has started an athlete outreach programme at the Khelo India Youth Games to promote "clean sports" among the participants.

NADA CEO Navin Agarwal wrote on Twitter about this new initiative, "I am happy that NADA has started the athlete outreach programme at the Khelo India Youth Games in Guwahati to promote clean sport values amongst the young athletes who are the very best in their field."

On Thursday, they also organised an anti-doping awareness session for the KIYG participants which saw attendees in large numbers. On Wednesday and Thursday, they conducted dope testing for the players from Kabaddi, gymnastics, lawn tennis and table tennis at different stadiums across Guwahati, and will keep conducting similar tests for the next few days for the players from other sports.

Around 6,800 from across 37 Indian states will compete in a

total of 20 sports events. The Games will conclude with the closing ceremony at

the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on January 22. Under the Go-Green Programme,

electric cars will be used at the venues.

Meanwhile, Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was

supposed to attend the opening ceremony in Guwahati, has excused himself citing

a busy schedule as the reason.
