A look back at the history of Formula One drivers from India shows there have been only two in the history of the sport. Narain Karthikeyan was the first in 2005 and again in 2010 with Karun Chandhok also racing between 2010 and 2011. Neither man tasted great success, amassing a total of 5 points between them over the course of 59 races. However, the future of Indian drivers in Formula One could be about to change for the better thanks to the emerging FIA Formula 2 Championship driver, Jehan Daruvala.

Having watched him race in FIA Formula 2, you may want to check out the 10cric bonus code ahead of next seasons Formula One campaign. Should Daruvala make the breakthrough, you will be able to back the Indian using this bonus at the online bookmaker.

Born in October 1998, Daruvala spent his childhood studying at Bombay Scottish School and started racing at 13 years of age. As with many young drivers, Daruvala began with karting and he was soon winning races in Asia and Europe.

Fast forward to February 2020 and Daruvala signed with Carlin to race for the Red Bull Junior Team in FIA Formula 2. At the time of writing, there were 8 races completed in the 2020 FIA Formula 2 season and Daruvala had won 18 points. There have been some serious signs of improvement during the course of the season resulting in some excellent finishes including a fourth place at Silverstone.

Having been signed by one of the Giants of Formula One racing, Red Bull, Daruvala will be setting his sights on the highest level. Lando Norris, who was recently in exactly the same position as Daruvala was promoted to the Red Bull Formula One racing team. So, if Daruvala can prove himself in FIA Formula 2 there is no reason why he should not be making the step up to Formula One in the near future.

As with any sport and athlete, the coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on Daruvala’s career. Having returned to his native India, Daruvala knew we had to make a tough decision to leave his country behind and return to Europe to continue his racing career.

Perhaps the next step will be as a test drive for a Formula One team but there is no doubt Daruvala has the backing financially to go all the way. However, Formula One is not an easy sport to crack and you only have to look at the recent winners to find only three names over the past 10 seasons. It would be a significant breakthrough should Daruvala make the step up to Formula One and succeed.
