Indian Tennis legend and one of the greatest doubles players of all time, Leander Paes was yesterday honoured with the OLY Certificate by the World Olympic Association.

Paes took to twitter to showcase his elation for the same and tweeted, “Delighted to receive the #OlyCertificate in recognition of representing our nation in 7 consecutive @Olympics! #FlyingMan”

Paes has represented India in seven consecutive Olympics starting from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. During the course of his seven Olympics participation, he won the bronze medal in men’s singles during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

The World Olympic Association honors sportspersons with a Certificate of Recognition for their achievements as an Olympian and to signify their role in the society, living and promoting the Olympic values.

This Certificate of Recognition also grants that particular sportsperson the permission to use the post-nominal letters “OLY” along with their name. As soon as Leander Paes was recognised with the certificate, he changed his name on twitter to “Leander Paes OLY.” Boxer MC Mary Kom and India’s first individual Olympic medallist, KD Jadhav were also honoured with this certificate earlier.
