The Indian floorball team defeated Pakistan by 9-5 in a high-octane 7th place match of the Men's Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation Cup (AOFC) 2019 in the Philippines on Friday. India drew the first blood with Palash Garg opening the scoreline, who went on to score another goal for India. A hat trick by Vishal Kachhap further powered the team over their neighbours. Yash Rodwal also picked up two goals for the team, whereas Kunal Nayagaon and Pulkit scored one goal each. Our boys put up a commendable show. Hopefully, this will be a start for them to excel further in the future in this game." Today is the final day of the eight-team event. The AOFC Cup is organised by the Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation (AOFC) and was held for the first time in 2017. Participation is open to all AOFC members, and this will be Pakistan’s first-ever appearance in an international event. It was the first major international event held in the Philippines and was a precursor for the teams' preparations for the SEA Games 2019 which will also be held in the Philippines in November / December. India finished seventh in the tournament, ahead of Pakistan, with their only win coming today. India played their first match in the tournament against the host nation, where they were defeated 5-4. It was followed by a 9-6 defeat to Japan, a 2-16 loss to Singapore and a 9-10 defeat to Malaysia. Palash remained the top-scorer for India with seven goals to his name. Singapore will take on Thailand in the final of the tournament.
