In a significant development for Asian Kho Kho, the International Kho Kho Federation recognised the Asian Kho Kho Federation on Sunday.

“The Asian Kho Kho Federation is pleased to announce its official recognition by the International Kho Kho Federation, marking a significant milestone in the development of Kho Kho across Asia. The federation, representing 11 member nations, will serve as the premier governing body for the sport in the Asian region, with the next step being to take the sport to the Olympics,” the AKKF said in a statement.

Last year in December, Aslam Khan assumed the presidency of the AKKF, while M. Sathasivam became the general secretary of the continental body.

Among other officials, Kshitij Aggarwal has been appointed as Co-Secretary, M.S. Tyagi as Treasurer, and Sanya Singh Aggarwal as Executive Director.

At present, the AKKF has eleven members, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, and Sri Lanka.

“The formation of the Asian Kho Kho Federation represents a significant step forward in our mission to globalize this ancient sport. With eleven nations coming together under one umbrella, we are witnessing the beginning of a new era for Kho Kho in Asia. The IKKF is committed to supporting the Asian Kho Kho Federation's initiatives to promote and develop the sport across the region,” said Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the International Kho Kho Federation.
