Tata Consultancy Services World 10K, the only ‘World Athletics’ Gold Label 10 Km Race in Asia, holds a place of pride in the global running calendar and receives applause for its formidable international elite field and mass participation. Since its inception, the event has transcended sport. It has not only etched the story of a fitness revolution in South India but has also created a phenomenal impact and brought a social change.

Every year, on the third Sunday of May, the entire city comes together to countdown to its biggest gold standard athletic celebration.

#HopeRunsWithin – The roads are closed but our hearts are open

This year, however, is like no other. With a global health crisis looming large, a race towards saving lives is in progress due to the COVID19 pandemic. Leading this brave fight are scores of frontline COVID Heroes who have risked their own lives to help people emerge victorious in their battle against the dreaded virus.

On the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale, TCSW10K launched the 'Hope Runs Within' campaign with an aim to salute and support scores of doctors, nurses, medical staff, sanitation workers, armed forces, police and many more on the frontline for their unrelenting service.

The digital campaign kicked-off on 12 May 2020 and will end on 17th May, the original race day of the TCS World 10K. To Participate click here- https://bit.ly/2yEuhzY

Staying true to the spirit, we celebrate the hope that runs within each and every member of the running community, especially as they stand in support of the heroes fighting the Covid-19 pandemic on the frontline.”

“We truly believe in the efforts of our heroes and as a human race we shall emerge stronger than ever before. We hope all of you will stand with us in solidarity as we overcome this challenge upon us,” added Vivek.

Heart beats for Heroes

The campaign will feature a virtual relay where individuals from across the spectrum of TCSW10K - Partners, Runners, CSOs, Procam International and other stakeholders, showcase the power of #HopeRunsWithin & dedicate their heartbeats to their Covid Heroes.

Lending their support are event record holders Geoffrey Kamworor, Agnes Tirop along with champions Andamlak Belihu, Mosinet Geremew, Aditi Chauhan-Vice Captain & Goalkeeper of Indian National Women’s Football Team and Niranjan Mukandan-Indian Para Swimmer.

Joining them are runner influencers like, Deepa Shalini Saraswati-Blade Runner along with noted sports commentator Gautam Bimani.

Additionally the campaign will be supported by videos by Face of the Event-Puneeth Rajkumar, Agnes Tirop, Bobby George and many more.

The week-long activation aims to galvanize the runners & active individuals to share a screenshot with workout regime & stats and state who they wish to dedicate their Heartbeat to and tag TCSW10K social media handles. #HopeRunsWithin Wishtree

Philanthropy is integral to the TCSW10K. In conjunction with the Philanthropy Partner India Cares Foundation, a #HopeRunsWithin Wishtree has been initiated: https://wishtree-hoperunswithin.icfn.in/

This offers a chance to participants to contribute individually or with a group of friends/ colleagues towards specific items such as PPEs, sanitisers, food grains, masks, etc required for COVID Relief.

Commenting on this, Dr Rupande Padaki, Chairperson, India Cares Foundation, stated “TCS World10K Bengaluru has been one of the most supportive platforms for the Social Sector. In this 2020 edition, the participating Civil Society Organisations have a dual task, taking care of their regular programmes for the less fortunate and the 2x requirements needed due to this pandemic, we are confident that as usual the runners and supporters of the event will understand the hope that runs within and join to help many more get on their feet.“
