The 2024 edition of the Pro Kabaddi League is all set to get underway on 18th October 2024 and the teams have done their work behind the scenes with player acquisition in the auction.

For Tamil Thalaivas, a lot of work needed to be done after their disappointing season last time out and they seem to have taken note of what went wrong last season.

Tamil Thalaivas Season 10 Review

A ninth-placed finish, with just nine wins from 22 games was what the Tamil Thalaivas will be working to improve from.

So far, they seemed to have taken bold moves off the field, by hiring two coaches and going for a two-coach system.

PKL Season 11- Squad Changes

The biggest buy for Tamil Thalaivas is that of Sachin Tanwar, bought for a record fee.

Udaya Kumar has been roped in as the chief coach and in addition, the Thalaivas have appointed a strategist-coach, with Dharmaraj Cheralathan taking over that role.

While it remains to be seen how this new approach will work out, they have also made a statement in the auctions, acquiring the services of star raider Sachin Tanwar for a whopping INR 2.15 crore.

They have also acquired Amirhossein Bastami for INR 16 lakhs and all-rounder Moein Safaghi for INR 13 lakhs.

Along with Sourabh Fagare for INR 9 lakhs, the Thalaivas have acquired a few youngsters as well.

PKL 11 Preview- Strength and Weakness

The biggest strength for the Thalaivas will be that they have trusted the core group of players in both defense and attack.

With the acquisition of Sachin Tanwar, one of PKL's best raiders, they have bolstered the attack, with the likes of Narender, and Chandran Ranjit already in their lineup.

The defense also looks good, with key players such as Himanshu, Sahil Gulia, and Sagar retained by the team.

Sagar, in particular, will be key for Tamil Thalaivas' defense. With 66 tackle points in 18 appearances last year, he was one of the consistent performers for the team.

Similarly, Sahil Gulia's role in defense is just as crucial. Alongside Sagar, Sahil scored 69 tackle points in 22 appearances in PKL 10.

The duo will be crucial in setting the base for Tamil Thalaivas from which they can carry out their attack.

An area of concern for the Thalaivas would be the lack of experience in the defensive area, in the case of an injury to their main defenders Sahil and Sagar.

Another area that Tamil Thalavais lack is that of a seasoned all-rounder. It is one area they will rely on their youngsters to step up and fill the shoes.
