PKL: Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan win big, strengthen playoff hopes
Patna Pirates beat Tamil Thalaivas 42-38, while Puneri Paltan crushed Bengaluru Bulls 56-18.
Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan delivered impressive victories in the Pro Kabaddi League on Friday night, with this both teams strengthened their chances of making it to the playoffs.
Patna Pirates edge out Tamil Thalaivas
The Patna Pirates, led by raiders Devank and Ayan, moved up to second on the points table after a hard-fought 42-38 win against Tamil Thalaivas. Devank scored 12 points, while Ayan added 13 to guide the Pirates to victory.
The match saw the Patna Pirates establish a strong lead early in the game, with Ayan and Devank crucial roles in the first half.
Despite a comeback from Tamil Thalaivas, which included a Super 10 from Moein Shafaghi and key raids from Sachin, Patna Pirates held on to their lead.
The second half saw a strong comeback from Tamil Thalaivas, reducing the deficit to 4 points.
However, Ayan and Devank's consistent scoring kept Patna Pirates in control. In the final minutes, the Pirates maintained a 5-point lead, and despite the Thalaivas' efforts, Patna Pirates walked away with the win.
Puneri Paltan rout Bengaluru Bulls
In a dominant performance, Puneri Paltan demolished Bengaluru Bulls 56-18, ending their three match losing streak and staying alive in the playoff race.
The home side was led by raiders Akash Shinde and Mohit Goyat, who scored eight points each.
In defense, Gaurav Khatri and Aman also impressed with their High 5s.
Puneri Paltan took control of the match early, achieving the first ALL OUT within eight minutes.
Bengaluru Bulls found it hard to keep up with the defending champions, with key players like Pardeep Narwal and Parteek unable to make an impact. The Bulls defense was ineffective, and the Paltan capitalized with multiple ALL OUTs to extend their lead.
Despite a brief Super Tackle from Bengaluru Bulls, the Puneri Paltan continued their dominance, achieving a third and fourth ALL OUT to seal the match.
Substitute Aryavardhan Navale added to the misery of Bengaluru Bulls with a Super Raid, taking the margin to 38 points, and ensuring a commanding victory for the Paltan.
