One of Bengaluru FC's talismans has mutually parted ways with the club. The club took to social media to announce the departure of their Juanan and thanked him for all his services to the club.

The center-back was signed by the blues in 2016 and has made 117 appearances for the club across five seasons. Juanan was loved by the blue's faithful, and the news might come across as a shock to many fans because there were no developments/rumors that indicated that the player is not a part of the new coach Marco Pezzaiuoli's plan. At the starting of the month, Bengaluru FC announced the departures of Harmanjot Khabra, Dimas Delgado, Semboi Haokip, and even Rahul Bhekke.

In March earlier this year, Bengaluru FC had announced the signing of a 29-year-old Gabonese defender Yrondu Musavu-King on a short-term contract. He was supposed to be a part of the upcoming AFC Cup squad with Juanan. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the AFC Cup was postponed to August, and it looks like it has also altered the plans for Bengaluru FC. The gap left by Juanan is huge, and only time will tell if BFC replaces him with a big name or Musavu King replaces him in the squad. Defense is an area where BFC is currently lacking players, after the departure of Khabra, Bhekke, Fran Gonzalez, and now Juanan. The Blues will definitely have a plan in mind, and we will soon hear from on news signings especially in their back-line.

Juanan was an absolute legend for the club and a defensive wall that many strikers felt difficult to break. He was a major reason why Bengaluru FC had the most clean-sheets in 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. Apart from being a defensive rock, he also scored goals at crucial times and was true leader from the back. He formed a special center back pairing with club legend John Johnson, and when John Johnson departed from the club in 2018, Juanan emerged as a true leader. Many would also argue that he might be one of the best center-backs to play in the Indian Super League history, such was the impact Juanan had in the league.
