Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters are looking to swoop in and onboard former FC Goa head coach Serio Lobera for the next season, sources have told The Bridge.

The Kerala-based club have struggled to get going this season and are currently languishing at eighth in the league table with 14 points from 15 matches. They have managed to win just three games this season and are virtually out of the top-4 race. A lot of expectations were put on Dutchman Eelco Schattorie who took charge before the start of the season. However, with injury problems harnessing their progress through the campaign, the Blasters faltered.

Lobera came to India a couple of years back when he took charge of FC Goa. Under him, the Gaurs emerged as one of the most attractive teams in the country, playing beautiful attacking football no matter what. Indian players like Mandar Rao Desai, Manvir Singh, Brandon Fernandes all took flight under his tutelage. However, long-term differences with the club's hierarchy led to Lobera's sacking this January.

As was reported, the 43-year-old is quite in demand in the country, now that his a free man. After all, his exploits with the Goa team did earn him a few fans. Although the Blasters want to sign him, the might face stiff competition from at least one other club. On top of that, it also remains to be seen whether or not Lobera wants to take another job in the ISL.
