The Indian junior men's hockey team started its title defense of the Men's Junior Asia Cup 2024 with a crushing 11-0 win over Thailand, in Muscat, Oman, on Wednesday.

Braces from Araijeet Singh Hundal, Sourabh Kushwaha, and Gurjot Singh, along with a goal each from Mukesh Toppo, Arshdeep Singh, Dilraj Singh, Rohit, and Sharda Nand Tiwari completed the routing in what was a nearly flawless performance from P.R Sreejesh's boys.

The match started on a bright note for India, with Araijeet Singh opening the scoring for India with a neat reverse flick on the near side, in under two minutes.

In two minutes, India then went from 1-0 to 3-0, thanks to goals from Arshdeep Singh and Sharda Nand Tiwari in the eighth and tenth minute, respectively.

The goals kept on coming in the second quarter as well, as India went into halftime with a monumental 8-0 lead, confirming the match's result.

The carnage did not stop in the second half, with Gurjot Singh, Sourabh Kushwaha, and Mukesh Toppo entering the scoresheet.

The two-time defending champions will face Japan tomorrow in their second game of the tournament, the match scheduled for an 8:30 PM start time.
