Harmanpreet Singh, on his birthday, dragged his side home with a brace after trailing 0-2. They also win a bonus point, thanks to Vincent Vanasch, who was absolutely brilliant during the shootout.

The Delhi Pipers will have to regroup quickly. This is their third successive loss, having lost their last match outrightly to Rarh Bengal Tigers and the one before on shootout to Hyderabad Toofans.

Harmanpreet Singh is the player of the match for his brace to bring Soorma Hockey Club back in the match.

"It turned out to be special birthday today," says Harmanpreet. "The coaches analyse in the break and we tweaked our structure a bit, which helped us earn PCs in the second half.

"I feel it is a special day. We'll cut a cake and celebrate [the win and birthday]," he adds.

Soorma Hockey Club get the bonus point

The Soorma Hockey Club have made a habit of this, haven't they? They staged a late comeback yesterday to beat Kalinga Lancers in a seven-goal thriller and they have once again replicated that against the Delhi SG Pipers, thanks to Harmanpreet Singh.

Though they did not get an outright win tonight, they do walk away with an important bonus point. The Delhi SG Pipers, meanwhile, have a lot to work on. For starters, they would hope to get more clinical inside the shooting circle.

Right then, there goes the hooter. Both Soorma Hockey Club and Delhi SG Pipers will walk away with at least a point from this encounter. There's still a bonus point up for grabs in the shoot-out.

This match was very sedate in the first half and just came to life in the second. The Pipers scored twice within minutes even though they were down to ten men in the third quarter to put themselves in command.

However, Harmanpreet Singh had other ideas. He scored twice via penalty corners to put Soorma level and force a shootout.
