HIL: UP Rudras crush Delhi SG Pipers – Highlights

Manmeet Singh is Player of the Match

UP Rudras' Manmeet Singh is the Player of the Match.

"We came thinking that this is a do-or-die match. It was important for us to win to climb up the table," he said.

There's the inevitable. The Delhi SG Pipers search for their first Hockey India League win continues. They scored first late in the second quarter, but the Rudras hit back soon after and also found the lead in the third quarter.

They Rudras found an extra goal to pile more misery on the Pipers. The Hardik Singh led side were clinical in front of the goal and finally get back to winning ways after two losses.

Constant pressure from the Pipers and they earn a penalty corner. With just under five minutes left on the clock, can they pull one back?

No, they can't. At least not with this penalty corner. A brilliant rush from Lars Balk, who deflects the drag flick away cleanly.

54' - RUDRAS SCOREEE!

The UP Rudras come on a counter and they earn a penalty corner. 

Cosnys Tanguy makes no mistake and slots the drag flick into the net on the very first attempt. That was fiery. And that might well be the final nail in the coffin for the Pipers.

53' - PC MISSED, PIPERS!

The Pipers try a variation and the drag flick is deflected off the rusher. The ball still goes to the goalkeeper, who is struggling to clear the ball away in chaos. But the Rudras finally get things in control with Jarmanpreet Singh of Pipers' copping a blow on his hand in the process.

52' - SAVE, MAZARELLO!

A brilliant aerial ball into the circle from the Delhi SG Pipers. Manjeet receives it with ease and launches a shot. Mazarello blocks it and the Rudras' defence is quick to pounce on the rebound to avert danger.

A long drive from the Pipers and they seem to have got a deflection inside the circle as well but it is no challenge for Rennie Benjamin, who calmly kicks it away.

END OF THIRD QUARTER!

A lively third quarter. The Pipers had their moments with a few attacking runs but it is the Rudras, who have scored to take a lead, courtesy a brilliant drag flick from Kane Russell.

The Pipers have a lot of catching up to do when they return for the fourth and final quarter.
