Hockey India League Auctions: Player Pool, Team Purse, Where to watch
From the team purses to price slabs to the player pool, here is everything you need to know about the HIL Auctions 2024.
The much anticipated Hockey India League auctions are set to kick-off tomorrow with men's auction on the first two days followed by women's auction on the final day.
After a seven-year hiatus, HIL 2024-25 is making its comeback with an expanded format that includes both men’s and, for the first time, an exclusive women’s league, running concurrently.
Eight teams are participating in the men's competition while six teams will participate in the women's competition.

Teams participating in HIL
There are eight teams in the men's section and six teams in the women's section.
Men's: Delhi SG Pipers, Rarh Bengal Tigers, Tamil Nadu Dragons, Kalinga Lancers, UP Rudras, Hyderabad Toofans, Punjab (Owned by JSW), Team Gonasika (Vizag Based)
Women's: Delhi SG Pipers, Rarh Bengal Tigers, Haryana (Owned by JSW), Odisha, Vishakhapatnam.
HIL Auction Dates and Timings
The player auctions will be conducted on three days with 13th and 14th October being the dates for the men's auction. The women's auction will be conducted on the 15th of October.
October 13 - Men’s Auction - 2:30 PM onwards
October 14 - Men’s Auction - 10 AM onwards
October 15 - Women’s Auction - 10 AM onwards
Base Price Categories for HIL Auctions 2024
Players are divided into three base price categories: Rs 2 lakh, Rs 5 lakh, and Rs 10 lakh based on the value they selected for themselves. The breakdown is as follows:
Over 600 players in the Rs 2 lakh category
Over 250 players in the Rs 5 lakh category
Over 250 players in the Rs 10 lakh category
Team Composition for Hockey India League 2024
Each team will consist of 24 players, including 16 Indian players (with a mandatory inclusion of four junior players) and eight overseas players. The teams can have four overseas players in the playing XI in the men's tournament and five overseas players in the women's tournament.
Player Pool for HIL Auction
A total of 508 Indian players and 168 overseas players have registered for the men's auction.
The Indian roster includes players from the bronze medal-winning team from the Paris Olympics, featuring top stars like captain Harmanpreet Singh, vice-captain Hardik Singh, and seasoned players like Manpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh, among others.
Apart from the current stars a lot of former Indian players have registered their names too including the likes of Dharamvir Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh, Devinder Walmiki, Birendra Lakra, SV Sunil, and Affan Yousuf.
International hockey icons including Arthur van Doren, Alexander Hendrickx, Gonzalo Peillat, Jip Janssen, Thierry Brinkman, and Dayaan Cassiem will add global talent and flair to the men’s league.
The women’s auction will kick off with top players from the Indian women’s hockey team, including seasoned goalkeeper Savita, captain Salima Tete, rising star and drag-flicker Deepika, the most-capped Indian women’s player Vandana Katariya, and Lalremsiami, among others.
Purse of the teams
In the men's auction, each team will have a purse of four crores to pick their 24 players while in the women's auction, each team will have two crores to pick their players.
Where to Watch, Live Broadcast HIL Auctions 2024
The Hockey India League 2024 Auctions will be live broadcasted on DD Sports on Television and the official YouTube channel of the league will live stream the auction.
