The men's players' auction of the Hockey India League 2024 ended with two days full of intense bidding, arguments, and tactical picks by the eight teams playing in the tournament.

While some teams got the players they wanted, some had to engage in a bidding war while some fell back to a Plan B to get a different player once their first choice was gone.

All these things added up in teams making big bids and breaking the bank for their preferred choice.

#1 Gonzalo Peillat (Germany)- 68 lakhs- Hyderabad Toofans

Another expected pick for teams to break the bank, Gonzalo Peillat was bought by Hyderabad Toofans for 68 lakhs. One of the best drag flickers in the world and an experienced campaigner, Peillat is a World Cup winner and silver medalist with Germany.

Peillat is known for his brilliant defence and the best drag flicks in the world. With the amount of experience he has, he will make for a brilliant leadership option.

#2 Jip Janssen (Netherlands)- 54 lakhs- Tamil Nadu Dragons

Another drag flicker on the list, Jip Janssen is one of the reasons the Netherlands won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A solid central defender and lethal drag-flicker, Janssen at 54 lakhs is a really good addition for the Tamil Nadu Dragons.

#3 Jeremy Hayward (Australia)- 42 lakhs- Soorma HC

Jeremy Hayward is a menace with set-piece situation and one of the fastest sprinters in the world hockey.

#4 Lars Balk (Netherlands)- 40 lakhs- UP Rudras

#5 Victor Wegnez- 40 lakhs- Soorma HC

Victor Wegnez is a familiar name to the Indian fans as the was part of the Belgian team that lost to India in the 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup in Lucknow.

He has been one of the mainstays of Belgium for sometime winning both world cup and Olympics gold.
