Hockey India League 2024: Eight men's team, four women's team unveiled- Highlights

Hockey India League 2024 Announcement LIVE: The upcoming Hockey India League has sparked interest among hockey fans as the league is set to make a return after seven years.
The tournament ended in 2017 due to franchises making financial losses and Hockey India is set to revive the league. Today's press conference will commence at 11:00 AM IST and will feature details about the teams and the auction process.

Here's the team composition for HIL
Men's team: Each squad will be made up of 24 players.
This will include 16 Indian players (it is mandatory to include four U21 players) and 8 overseas players.
And the Playing XI will comprise of four overseas and seven Indian players.
Women's team: Just like the Men's squads, the Women's teams will contain a total of 24 players.
The only difference is that every women's team will have a total of five overseas players in the Playing XI.

There will be a total of 14 teams.
Eight teams in men's competition and six teams in women's competition will feature in the league.
Both tournaments will run simultaneously.

Olympic medal winning coach with India, Graham Reid is back to India.
Australian coach Graham Reid who led India to the historic bronze model at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has joined the Delhi franchise as head coach.

Interestingly, PR Sreejesh won't be the part of player auctions.
Legednary Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will return to HIL but in a different role.
He has joined the Delhi franchise in a mentorship role.
