, Rafey said "I was selected through Khelo India Youth Games, where I was crowned the champion in artistic gymnastics. This opened the gateway for me to the Junior Asian Cup, which was my first international outing." Rafey praises his coaches and his family members for his achievements. He adds, "I was a bit nervous going into my maiden international journey. However, my coaches, Ankit Tripathi and Raja Babu, along with my family immensely motivated me to do well. The Kazakhstan and the Chinese Taipei teams were pretty strong contenders, and winning a medal alongside them has lifted my confidence. I just gave my best" Rafey's feat comes nine years after Ashish Kumar first won an Asian medal as an Indian male artistic gymnast. Rafey had already created a name for himself while participating in the Season eight of India's Got Talent, where he impressed the judges with his prolific gymnastic skills.
