Guwahati: Northeast Futsal League (NEFL) is being played in KNC Bordoloi Indoor, Sarusojai Sports Complex Guwahati, Assam. It is India’s first-ever mixed-gender futsal league, which will feature six teams in total, will be played over a period of seven days till August 31. On the third day of the NEFL, Apurba Manipur drew with Assam Titans in a 2-2 score. The scorers for Manipur were Md Shah Jahan and Md Yasir while Atlanta Basumatary and Arman Singha netted the ball for Assam.
In the other match between Mizo falcons vs Meghalaya Thunders, Mizoram won by a handsome margin of 5 goals. Lalawmpuia, PC Lal and C Lal scored one goal each while Lalrinsanga scored two goals. In the third match of the day, Nagaland and Arunachal played a 3-3 draw. For Nagaland Apeto, Alex and Khajibo scored one goal each. And for Arunachal Hage Takang scored a hat-trick.
All the matches are being streamed online on the official YouTube channel. On August 28, Assam will face Meghalaya in the first match while Nagaland plays against Manipur and in the third game, Mizoram will lock horn against Arunachal.
The NEFL being organized by Proclivity sports and Recreation Pvt Ltd is aimed to create and develop a sustainable foundation for the sport of Futsal as a sporting career alternative for the athletes of Assam and Northeast India, by providing the best education, facilities and showcases to participate in the game.
