NEFL 2019: Arunachal Highlanders, Mizo Falcons start their campaign on a winning note
Arunachal Highlander and Mizo Falcons began their campaign with stellar victories on the second day of Northeast Futsal League.
Northeast Futsal League (NEFL), being played in Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor, Sarusejai Sports Complex in Guwahati, had two matches on Monday. It is India’s first-ever mixed-gender futsal league, which will feature six teams in total, will be played over a period of seven days till August 31.Â
In the first match, Arunachal Highlanders showed a comprehensive performance to snatch a win against Meghalaya Thunders. Paula Boza Gil from Spain playing for Arunachal has become the first female player of the league to score as she scored both the goals. Francis was the lone scorer for Meghalaya as the match ended in a 2-1 win for Arunachal.
In the second match, Mizo Falcons won against Apunba Manipur 3-2. For Mizo Falcons, their captain Alan scored one goal and Michael scored two goals. Md Yasir and Md Shah Jahan scored one goal each for Manipur. All the matches have been streamed online on the official YouTube channel.
On Tuesday, Apunba Manipur will play against Assam Titans from 4 pm. Mizo Falcons will face Meghalaya Thunders in the second match of the day from 5 pm and Nagaland Super 5 will play against Arunachal Highlander from 6 pm. The NEFL being organized by Proclivity sports and Recreation Pvt Ltd is aimed to create and develop a sustainable foundation for the sport of Futsal as a sporting career alternative for the athletes of Assam and Northeast India, by providing the best education, facilities, and showcases to participate in the game.
