U-17 friendly: India loses 0-3 to Uzbekistan- As it happened
Defensive lapses costed the Blue Colts the game.
India U-17 were doled a 0-3 defeat by their counterparts in Uzbekistan colours on Tuesday, in Goa. After defeating the visitors jus two days back, the Blue Colts failed to carry the momentum on and get a second win on the trot.
Similar to their 2-0 win on the 22nd of January, Bibiano Fernandes' boys started nervy and poor on the ball, allowing the visitors full freedom to take a shot at goal. While both sides were on equal footing in the first half, the second 45 minutes spelled renewed energy for the boys in white.
Urmonjonov Oybek opened the scoring after defender Surajkumar Singh was too slow to close down the advancing Uzbek. After the 54th minute opener, Indian skipper Vanlalpeka Guite, who scored the first in their last match, missed a glorious opportunity to level the field at the 65th minute.
Just two minutes after that, Abraev Kuvonchbek took advantage of another defensive lapse in India's box, with Balkaran Singh at the centre of affairs, and doubled Uzbekistan's lead.
From then, it seemed too far for India to take anything from the game as substitute Turgunboev Abdulkhamid scored perhaps the easiest goal of his career with a simple pass into the back of the net.
