Sanjeev Stalin signed by third-tier Portuguese club
Sanjeev Stalin, an Indian 19 year old football player signed for 3rd division in Portuguese football club, Sertanense FC as a left/right defender. Though he has been training in Portugal, it was not a written contract deal. This deal was confirmed by Sanjeev on an Instagram post.
Sanjeev has been playing under Indian fields since the age of 10. He etched his name onto Indian football history when he scored the country’s first goal in the World cup. Though team India later lost to Columbia, this was a significant achievement in the country’s history of the sport.
Sanjeev was part of AIFF’s Elite Academy after which he proceeded to the FIFA U-17 World Cup. After the World Cup, he made his professional debut in Indian Arrows, a team owned by the AIFF where the team scored 3-0 against Chennai City.
