BREAKING: Salva Chamorro snaps back at Mohun Bagan fans who trolled him
Mohun Bagan’s Spanish forward Salvo Chamorro stirred a controversy when he took to social media to snap back at fans who mocked him for missing sitters. The Spaniard, who made an instant impact for the Mariners in the Calcutta Football League and the Durand Cup after signing from Doxa Drama in the summer has not been able to find his feet in the I-League so far which has drawn ire from the Bagan faithful.
Chamorro scored 4 goals in the Durand Cup and led Bagan to a runners-up finish, but they have faltered in the 2 games they have played in the league so far. The Kolkata outfit has only 1 point so far, drawing away to Aizawl FC and losing 4-2 at home to Churchill Brothers. Chamorro has yet to open his account in the league, which has not been taken lightly by some.
In the post, the account Team Kolkata had nominated Chamorro as one of the Stars of the Year from Kolkata given his performances and impact so far. Mohun Bagan fans, however, went on to openly mock him for missing sitters and being unable to make the right runs at the right time. Chamorro, who is often active on social media, has retorted asking the fans to see if they can perform better than him. It is something that they did not take too kindly themselves, which led to some name-calling and further mocking in the comments.
It remains to be seen if Chamorro can reply back to the fans on the pitch as well, because coach Kibu Vicuna will certainly be hoping he can. Mohun Bagan play newly promoted TRAU FC at home in their next game.
