ISL Transfers: Punjab FC rope in Argentina's Norberto Vidal for ISL 2024-25
Nicknamed 'Pulga', Vidal primarily plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger.
Punjab FC signed Argentine midfielder Norberto Ezequiel Vidal, aka Pulga, as their fifth foreign player for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season.
The 29-year-old, who last featured for Indonesian top-flight side Persita Tangerang, is expected to bring some flair and creativity to the side.
Hailing from Bahia Blanca in Argentina, Vidal primarily plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger. He began his professional career in 2011 with Club Olimpo making 45 appearances and scoring three goals during his eight-year stint.
During his sting with the Olimpo, he was loaned out to Atletico Independiente (Argentina), Delfin SC (Ecuador) and Atletico Juventud (Uruguay).
In 2019, Vidal joined Argentine Primera B side San Martin SJ before moving to Atletico Alvarado, where he scored five goals in 37 appearances.
He had a short stint with Independiente Rivadavia of Argentina before signing for Indonesian side Persita Tangerang in 2022, where he scored 17 goals in 60 appearances.
Punjab FC’s Technical Director, Nikolaos Topoliatis, expressed excitement about their new signing.
“We are excited to have Vidal in our ranks for the upcoming season. He is an exciting player who will add more speed and creativity to our midfield. I wish him the best for a successful season with us," said Topoliatis.
