NEFL 2019: Manipur wins, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya play out draws
Day 5 saw Assam Titans and Mizo Falcon continue their unbeaten run as they played out a 1-1 draw.
Day 5 of the Northeast Futsal League (NEFL), being played in KNC Bordoloi Indoor, Sarusojai Sports Complex Guwahati, Assam witnessed some enthralling fixtures. India’s first-ever mixed-gender futsal league, the NEFL features six teams in total, with the matches being be played over a period of seven days till August 31.
In the 1st match of Day 5, Assam Titans and Mizo Falcon continued their unbeaten run as they played out a 1-1 draw. Aklanta Basumatary and Lalringsanga scored goals for Assam and Mizoram respectively. The second match witnessed Arunachal getting thumped by Manipur 5-0. Scorers for Manipur were Md Yasir (2) and Md Shah Jahan (2) goals while Rajanibala scored 1.
In the final fixture of the day, Meghalaya and Nagaland played out a nerve-wracking 4-4 draw. Though Nagaland was leading by 4-3 in the half time, Meghalaya scooped in the equalizer in the second half. For Meghalaya, Carlos scored 2, Anare and Batskhem scored one each. For Nagaland, Lima scored 2 goals while Inito and Patricia scored one each.
On August 30 Arunachal will play against Assam in the first match (4 pm), followed by Mizoram and Nagaland in the second match (5 pm) while the third encounter will see Meghalaya take on against Manipur (6 pm).
The NEFL is being organized by Proclivity sports and Recreation Pvt Ltd is aimed to create and develop a sustainable foundation for the sport of Futsal as a sporting career alternative for the athletes of Assam and Northeast India, by providing the best education, facilities and showcases to participate in the game.
